Entry requirements:
  • A BTEC National Certificate or Diploma in an engineering discipline.
  • A level in mathematics, or science or technology, (grade C or above), with supporting GCSEs at grade C or above.
  • Advanced Vocational Certificate in Education in an engineering discipline.

Tuition fees:
£1650 (2010). Your company will normally pay the fees and pay a salary throughout the programme.

The core subjects of Mathematics, Science for Engineers and Business Systems will provide the underpinning knowledge for the industry and support the study of the more specialist modules.  

Specialist modules cover electrical and electronic principles, analogue, and use of ECAD software to design and evaluate circuits.  Further modules specialising in the following areas are also taught;- instrumentation and control systems, mechantronic systems including sensors, actuators, and control, involving electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

Learning, teaching & assessment

This programme is assessed by assignments, work base project and examinations.

Career prospects & progression

On successfully passing your foundation degree you can progress to a BEng (Hons) on a part time, distance learning basis.
