Entertainment

Entertainment at the Guild is legendary. It’s what gets students through those cold dark nights when they’re away from home and trying to settle into an unfamiliar environment. Making friends is what going to university is all about (apart from the academic bit of course!) and what better place to start than at the Students’ Guild.

Astonbury

Entertainment in the Guild is split into different areas with easy access between all ‘rooms’.

Einstein's

Einstein’s café and bar is open throughout the day serving good value food. During the day many students go to Einstein’s to meet friends between lectures, grab some food or play pool.  and . Drinks and food are also available in the evenings, and the bar shows most of the major live sporting events.

The Base / Guild Hall

The Base is a comfortable area where many of our students relax during the day. Markets, poster sales and other events are also regularly held here during the day.

After dark The Base turns in to the Guild Hall where all of the major evening events are held. Loads of different nights run throughout term to cater for most musical tastes.

The regular Friday club night usually has a theme, giving you an excuse to get dressed up. The Guild Hall also host balls, end of term parties, live music, comedy nights and other events.

What's on?

Friday nights are when the really memorable events take place. The Guild is fiercely proud of its School Daze brand, which was a finalist in the Birmingham Club Night of the Year awards. It has been graced by the presence of legends such as Orville, Scott Mills and the mullet sporting Pat Sharp. Other nights to look out for are: Aston Sessions, in particular when guest DJs such as Annie Mac are in town, Inflate-a-ball which mixes bouncy castles and late nights with predictable effects, and the mighty Freakers‘ Ball, which raises money for charity whilst encouraging people to dress in a way that has to be seen to be believed.

Saturdays are generally reserved for the more formal events such as the Athletic Union Ball and the various sports and society dinner and dances, although there are also regular live music events.

On Sunday nights there’s a chance to test your knowledge in our double jackpot quiz. Look out for special one-off events, live bands, hypnotist and comedy events throughout the week as well.
