Nightlife & entertainment

Astonbury

There are so many places to go, and so much to do that you will always be spoilt for choice... Spend an evening with friends in the Students' Guild, or make the short walk into Birmingham city centre and enjoy the amazing cultural and nightlife the UK's second city has to offer

On campus

For many students their social life at Aston revolves around the Students’ Guild, where events are organised throughout the week and at weekends. You'll have plenty of choice, from live bands and club nights, quizzes and kareoke, fancy dress nights and black-tie balls.

The various student sports clubs and societies organise their own events and entertainment, ensuring there is always something happening, whether you're living on campus or not.

Special music and DJ events are also organised by the Aston Campus Residents’ Association who run film and cinema nights. Cheap trips to Europe are a speciality as well! Find out more about nightlife and entertainment at the Guild. In June the annual Astonbury Festival on campus takes place to celebrate the end of exams with stages, live music, stalls, outdoor activities and more.

Birmingham

As you would expect from a city that is home to over 60,000 students, the choice and scope for entertainment and culture in Birmingham is immense and our students make the most of Aston’s location in the city centre. There are plenty of student discounts on offer too!

There are numerous restaurants, bars and clubs in and around the city centre. Broad Street, Brindley Place and the Mailbox are popular areas where you can enjoy a canalside meal or drinks.

Birmingham also has a vibrant gay and lesbian scene, with dozens of bars and clubs centred round Hurst Street.
