These Aston scholarships are based on your household income, which is the total amount your family earns each year before tax and National Insurance. Visit the Student Finance England website for details on the definitions of household income.
Remember that whatever your household income, if you achieve AAB or above at A Level (or equivalent), you will be entitled to an Aston Excellence Scholarship.
Applying - UK and EU students who apply to Aston University for 2012 undergraduate entry will be able to apply for support from the UK Government and Aston University from January 2012 via Student Finance England (SFE). We will automatically use the information you supply to SFE to assess your eligibility for an Aston household income based scholarship - you do not need to apply for the scholarship separately. Income based Scholarships are subject to annual assessment of household income.
Aston Progression Scholarship
The Aston Progression Scholarship is available to all Home and EU undergraduates with a household income of between £18,001 and £42,000.
The scholarship gives you a £500 tuition fee discount for every year of study except your placement year and years when you receive another type of Aston household income-based scholarship.
You could also be eligible for an Aston Excellence Scholarship.
Aston Advantage Scholarship
The Aston Advantage Scholarship is available to all Home and EU undergraduates with a household income of over £14,500 and up to £18,000.
The scholarship consists of a £1,000 discount on your first year tuition fee, and a full £1,000 discount on your placement year fee. If you are studying our Pharmacy programme, which has a pre-registration year rather than a placement year, you will receive a £1,000 tuition fee waiver in your third year.
If you are eligible for an Aston Advantage Scholarship, you will also qualify for the Aston Progression Scholarship in your second and final years, so your Aston income-based scholarships could total £3,000 over a typical four year degree. You could also be eligible for an Aston Excellence Scholarship.
Aston is part of a Government initiative, the National Scholarship Programme (NSP). The NSP at Aston is designed to support English domiciled students with a household income of up to £14,500, who live in University accommodation on campus.
The NSP offers a £3,000 discount on your first year tuition fee and all full £1,000 discount on your placement year fee. If you are studying on our Pharmacy degree programme, which has a pre-registration year rather than a placement year, you will receive a £1,000 tuition fee waiver in your third year.
The National Scholarship Programme at Aston covers your first year, after which the Aston Progression Scholarship is available. This means that over a typical four year Aston degree, your total Aston scholarships could amount to £5,000, or more if you are eligible for an Aston Excellence Scholarship.
The NSP is limited to 166 scholarships in 2012. Eligible students who are not awarded the NSP will qualify for other Aston income based scholarships.
