Our English for Postgraduate Studies programme offers an English language qualification and aims to prepare our students for study on postgraduate taught as well as postgraduate research programmes. 

While on the programme, you will not only improve your overall command of English, but also develop your confidence in using it within your chosen academic discipline.  We will help you to enhance your academic skills and become familiar with life in Britain.  This will be delivered through a range of core and optional modules maximising your opportunities to further develop your strengths and work on your individual areas for improvement.

You will study at one of the UK's leading universities on our friendly, green campus situated in Birmingham city centre, Britain's second city.

Learning and Teaching Methods


English for Postgraduate Studies modules are delivered by a team of qualified, experienced and dedicated staff at Aston University's Centre for English Language and Communication (CELCA).

We use a variety of innovative and engaging teaching methods which include lectures, seminars, tutorials and interactive workshops as well as private and small-group work.  There are also opportunities for individual project work and and off-campus visits.

Assessment

Modules are assessed in a variety of ways, which include coursework, assignments, projects and formal oral and written examinations.  Feedback is provided continuously throughout the programme and an IELTS examination can be taken at the end of the course, the cost of which is already included in the fee.

Award

Students who have earned a total of 120 credits from both core and optional modules will be awarded the Certificate in Higher Education which is recognised by universities across the UK. 

PLEASE NOTE: Successful completion of this programme does not guarantee automatic progression onto a postgraduate programme at Aston University.
