Do I have to book to attend an Open Day?
Booking is not essential, however if you book your place, we can can send you an Open Day programme and other important information in advance of your visit, along with a registration card which you will need to bring with you on the day.
Will I be sent confirmation when I have booked?
You will be sent an immediate confirmation message when you book online. Around three weeks before the Open Day, we will send you an email and a postal Open Day information pack.
Can I bring family and/or friends?
Yes, you are welcome to bring parents, family and/or friends with you to the Open Day. When you book online you will be asked how many guests you would like to bring – please complete this as it helps with our planning.
Can I change the number of places I've booked?
Yes you can. We only ask how many people you will be bringing to give us a rough idea of numbers. You can change this if your situation changes and you do not need to let us know.
What time does the Open Day start and finish?
The first talk will begin at 10.15 am and the last talk will finish at 3.00 pm. Please refer to the Open Day programme for full timings as there will be some optional campus tours taking place before the first talk.
Do I have to attend the whole Open Day?
No. You can attend any part of the Open Day you wish.
Do I have to book to attend any of the talks?
No, you do not need to book to attend any of the talks. Some will be busier than others and many are repeated during the day. Please check the Open Day programme for details when it is available.
How long do the talks last?
The subject sessions last around one hour. Some of the general sessions are shorter than this. The Open Day programme will give full details of timings.
Do I have to book tickets for the campus tours?
We organise our campus tours using a timed ticketing system. Tickets are issued on the day on a first come first served basis. There are plenty of tours for everyone to attend, but if you wish to take a tour at a particular time we would suggest you collect your ticket early on in your visit as there are limited spaces for each time slot.
Do the campus tours include a visit to the accommodation?
Yes, all campus tours include a guided tour of the student residences, all of which are on campus.
Where can I park?
Unfortunately we do not have parking available on campus. However, pay and display parking is available very close to campus at Millennium Point. Please see our maps & directions page for more details.
Is the University close to the train station?
The University is a 15 minute walk, or five minute taxi ride, from all three central mainline Birmingham train stations – Birmingham New Street, Birmingham Snow Hill and Birmingham Moor Street. Please see our maps & directions page for more details.
Will I need to register on arrival at the Open Day?
If you have received an Open Day pack in the post, this will include an A5 registration which will have your name, address and personal identification number printed on it. You will just need to hand this in on arrival.
If you have not received a registration card in the post, you will be asked to complete a registration card in the Main Entrance when you arrive for the Open Day.
What if I do not receive any information in the post?
If you did not book online, have lost your pack, or have not received your pack in the post, you will be able to download a programme from the website from around 3 weeks before the Open Day. You will then be asked to complete a registration card at the Welcome Desk when you arrive.
Printed Open Day programmes will be available on the day.
