Our next general open days take place in June, September and October 2013.  You can now book online to attend the Open Day on Tuesday 18 June 2013.

Online booking for the September and October Open Days will be available from early June.

Between October 2012 and March 2013 we offer campus tours and Open Days for UCAS applicants.

Our General Open Days are a great opportunity for you to explore Aston University and Birmingham for yourself. You'll also be able to speak to lecturers and current students about living and studying at Aston.

If you are a teacher/adviser and would like to book a large school/college party to attend our Open Days, please email Lisa Anderton with details.

If you have any questions, please see our FAQs or get in touch.

What can I see and do?

Our tours are led by current Aston students, who will show you round our green, self-contained campus. You'll see some of our excellent academic, social and sporting facilities, and visit our student accommodation.

At Aston University we are proud of our student accommodation, all of which is on campus. There is a guarantee scheme in place for first year students and 85% of our student bedrooms are ensuite.

Your student guide will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have during the tour.

Short of time? We try to show accommodation early on in the campus tours, so you can leave the tour once you've visited the accommodation. If you don't want to take a campus tour, you can visit our show flats, which will be open for most of the Open Day.

We run a series of sessions and presentations throughout the day, which last between 20 and 40 minutes. We also run a "question time" session for parents where you can ask any questions to Aston staff and students.

Sessions generally include:

  • Introduction to Aston University
  • Student life at Aston
  • Applying to University: the UCAS system - making the most of your UCAS application, choosing where to go and what to study, personal statements and more.
  • Student finance - find out more about fees, loans, budgeting and Aston's scholarships
  • Sport at Aston

These sessions are run by lecturers who'll explain more about the courses taught at Aston University, and answer any questions you may have.

The sessions last about an hour, and most run twice during the Open Day.

Drop in to the Careers & Employability centre to speak to staff and find out about the facilities and support on offer to Aston students and recent graduates.

Aston is ranked 5th in the UK and 1st outside London for graduate employability. We also have the highest percentage of students taking a placement year of any UK university.

The vast majority of placements are paid, with the average salary being £15,000. Many Aston students are offered graduate jobs with their placement employers.

The placement year tuition fee is £1,000, with scholarships available to make this year fee free for the majority.

Make sure you leave yourself time during the day to visit Birmingham city centre, which is just a five minute walk from our campus.

Free coach tours of Birmingham will run during the day. The tours last around 35 minutes and show you some of the highlights of the fantastic city of Birmingham - home to over 65,000 students!

You can also pick up one of our self-guided tour leaflets, and take a short walking tour of the city centre.

We offer Open Day visitors discounted rooms in our on-campus hotel and conference centre. Why not spend the night in the city and take a look at some of our suggested things to do in Birmingham.
