This interactive, specialist course will be of value to practising teachers of English as a Foreign Language who are considering teaching English to university students, both on general EFL and English for Specific/Academic Purposes courses.
The sessions will be led by well-qualified and highly experienced teachers of EAP and tertiary level EFL programmes.
The course will comprise of the following activities:

Tutor-delivered presentations followed by group discussions on current EAP and tertiary level EFL teaching and learning methods, such as task-based approach and reflective learning

Workshops on student-centred EAP syllabus design

Workshops on designing effective and up-to-date EAP and tertiary level EFL teaching and learning materials

Practical sessions on using e-learning materials and virtual learning environment

Workshops on assessment tools and feedback methods currently used in EAP

An observation of an EAP class at Aston University

Micro teaching sessions in which participants teach each other in small groups
In the mornings students will be attending two hours of the advanced level General English refresher sessions which will further facilitate the activities within the specialist module in the afternoons.
