Staff may belong to any trade union of their choice although it is not a condition of employment that a member of staff should be a member of any Trade Union.  

The University recognises Unions UCU, UNITE and the GMB for collective bargaining purposes.

All staff in grades 7 and above other than:

  • Technicians up to and including those in grade 8

  • Security staff up to and including those in grade 7

  • Trades and Grounds staff up to and including those in Grade 7

All staff in grades 4 to 6 and:

  • Technicians up to and including those in grade 8

  • Security staff up to and including those in grade 7

  • Trades and Grounds staff up to and including those in Grade 7

  

UNITE
 

All staff in grades 1 to 3 and:

  • Cleaning staff up to and including those in grade 6
