In line with CAW Regulations the University is required to:
Have an asbestos management plan. Click here for the plan.
Hold registers indicating the locations of all asbestos containing materials. This can be examined by contacting one of the following individuals:
Graham Faulks on ext. 4331
Vaughan Townsend on ext. 4324
Ian Oldacre on ext. 4326
Trevor Owens on ext. 4336
Please note: all work which may disturb the fabric of the building or the services installed in it must be arranged in conjunction with one of the four people named above, and in all cases the asbestos registers must be consulted before any work which may disturb the fabric of the building or the services installed in it commences.
Asbestos Removal Programme
Significant amounts of asbestos have been removed from the basement area of the University with further programmes planned in the future.
Graham Faulks is currently identifying and removing items listed in the register that have a priority higher than 'label and monitor'. The only items to be left in situe will be those which are safe and these will be subject to ongoing inspections. A system of labelling is currently being considered for approval by the Health & Safety department.
