Residential Services and ISA are pleased to announce that a new, improved internet service is now in place, effective as of 19 September.
Provided by new supplier, Cablecom Networking, the StudentCom service offers wireless access in Lawrence and Dalton Towers and the low rise accommodation, with wired access in Stafford Tower and Lakeside Residences.
The wireless service has had the number of access points doubled and bandwidth increased by a factor of five. In recognition of the high levels of internet usage in residences, the new infrastructure caters for above average demand.
The quality of internet provision is a major factor for our students, particularly those coming from overseas where broadband speeds are far in excess of those currently on offer in the UK.
The new arrangement is therefore an important step towards giving students the internet service they expect, and at just £140 per year, represents excellent value for money.
