Aston University has been ranked 13th in the UK in The Independent’s Complete University Guide 2010, with degrees related to Subjects Allied to Medicine rated 1st overall in the country.
The impartial guide, which provides prospective and current students with a comprehensive overview of universities, analyses everything from academic strengths and research, through to facilities, student support and student satisfaction.
The University is placed as the 13th best Higher Education establishment overall out of all 113 UK Universities, rising 10 places on last year’s ratings. Aston comes top in Birmingham, ahead of the University of Birmingham (27th) and Birmingham City University (59th). In the whole of the Midlands, only the University of Warwick (6th) was ranked higher than Aston.
Aston has several top 30 placements in the Guide, across its range of subject areas, including;
- Subjects Allied to Medicine (1st out of 76)
- Business and Management (10th out of 111)
- Pharmacy and Pharmacology (7th out of 35)
- Psychology (20th out of 102)
- German (19th out of 47)
- Biological Sciences (26th out of 88)
- Mechanical Engineering: (25th out of 59)
Aston’s student support and facility strengths have also been ranked highly, with the University ranked 9th in the UK for student satisfaction, spending on student facilities ranked 3rd, and graduate prospects placed 17th in the UK.
