Beta Gamma Sigma Scholarship

Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) is an honour society serving business programmes accredited by AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) International. Aston Business School is currently the only BGS chapter in the UK, having been established in February 2005.

One of the rewards offered to students is the chance to receive the Beta Gamma Sigma scholarship award of $1000, funded jointly by Beta Gamma Sigma and ABS. The purpose of this award is to help outstanding students to achieve their educational goals.

ABS student Gino Martin, who is studying Accounting for Management, received the scholarship based on his outstanding academic performance and his successful placement at Atkins Global, where he worked on Credit Risk and Foreign Exchange.

‘One of the main reasons I came to Aston Business School was due to the huge emphasis on the placement year, allowing students to combine theory and practice. My placement year went really well and it has allowed me to think more as an individual.

‘The experience that I gained from my placement year has helped me immensely; something which you need in this current economic climate. Being on placement is a good break from studying and you learn more about yourself and the world. It has also helped me to decide my long term plans - I know I would like to work in investments and finance.'
