This exhibition by Aston alumnus, Graham Stubbs, is a look back at a selection of his work from the last six years. Many of the photographs are of central Birmingham, but there are also landscapes from the surrounding area, Southern England, Northern Scotland and Europe.
Having recently finished a PhD at Aston Business School, Graham currently works in St Martins providing support for people who are vulnerable and homeless. He is largely self taught and has been taking black and white photographs for the last ten years. Graham sees his inspiration as what he sees around him every day. 'Living in Birmingham means that much of my photography involves architecture and street scenes, but I also love the tranquillity of rural and mountain landscapes,' he says.
'I believe the quality of the image is everything, both the artistic quality as well as the craftsmanship involved in its production. I am inspired by simplicity, using black and white is part of that process, but it is also about composition, capturing shapes and forms to produce a unique image.'
The exhibition can be viewed in St Martins Church, Birmingham, fron now until Friday 12th June. It is open every day between 10.30am and 4.30pm.
