Are you worried about diabetes?

Does one or both of your parents have type 2 diabetes? This is a well known risk factor for diabetes!

Would you like to know if you are at risk of developing diabetes and want a free check up?

Research is being conducted on the risk factors of Type 2 diabetes in White-Europeans and South-Asians (Indian, Sri-Lankan, Pakistani and Bangladeshi).

The study needs healthy individuals (without diabetes) aged between 25-50 years with a family history of Type 2 diabetes in one/both parents.

The examination requires a glucose test and a series of non-invasive test of the arm and eye and wearing a 24-hour blood pressure and ECG monitor. A blood sample is also required. All this is done at Aston University Day hospital in two short visits.

If you are interested and would like to know more, please contact Mr Sunni Patel: patels8@aston.ac.uk.

The study has already received ethics approval from Aston University (08/D) and the NHS (08/H1206/168).
