Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) study - participants needed!

Age-related Macular Degeneration study

Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is one of the leading causes of blindness in the modern western world. People with AMD are also at higher risk for developing stroke or heart disease.

Are you worried about AMD and would like to know if you are at risk of a stroke or heart disease?

Have you (or anyone you know) recently been diagnosed with AMD and are worried about the above issues?

A team in LHS is conducting a study on the vascular health in subjects diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration. The study has received ethical approval from the University.

They are looking for participants who are suffering or not suffering from this disease but who are otherwise fit and healthy and aged over 30.

The study will involve taking a blood sample, along with non-invasive assessments of the vascular health at the eye, wrist and neck levels. A 24-hour blood pressure and heart activity profile will also be investigated.

If you are interested and would like to know more, please contact Miss Lu Qin or Dr Doina Gherghel.
