Interdisciplinary Research poster day

Friday 2nd October
11am - 2.30pm MB708

The Life and Health Sciences Post-doctoral fellows invite you to attend an ‘Interdisciplinary Research poster day’.

The event is held to promote discussion between LHS researchers and researchers from other departments and universities, to help identify potential collaborative opportunities.

This year to further encourage future collaborative research we are pleased to offer a ‘Seed Corn’ grant of £1000 as a prize for the best collaborative proposal arising from the event. After the event potential collaborators will be invited to submit a short grant proposal (which must include at least one Aston LHS researcher) which will be reviewed by an invited panel of academics at the University.

In addition there will also be prizes of £100 (1st), £50 (2nd) and £25 (3rd) for the best posters displayed on the day as judged by a panel of Academics/ Researchers. This competition is open to all researchers from all universities.

Postdoctoral research fellows who would like to display a poster of their research (with an emphasis on the biosciences) should send a short 300 word abstract to Dr Eric Hill (posters from recent conferences are also welcome)*. Alternatively you are more than welcome to just come along to have a look at some of the research work at Aston and chat with some of our researchers. The deadline for submission of abstracts will be 14th August.

The event is being sponsored by Fisher scientific, Thermo Liquid Handling, Appleton woods, Promega, MBI Fermentas, SFAM, Beckman Coulter, Autogen Bioclear, Merck, Elkay, Alta Biosciences and NEB, all of who will be available on the day to discuss all of your laboratory needs as well as offering special promotions and competitions.

A fully catered buffet will be provided to both participants and delegates on the day.

For further information or confirm your attendance.

Many Thanks

Dr Eric Hill

* LHS postdocs you are reminded that external visitors are not subject to the same confidentiality agreements as Aston University staff and posters may need to be changed accordingly

Hello I am a post-doc from University of Birmingham. I wonder if there is still any chance to register for this event? I understand that the deadline has passed a week ago but I've missed the opportunity because I was away for my holidays.( Sorry to bother you with this.) Thank you in advance.Yanina Sevastsyanovich21/08/2009 11:07:25
