Optometry Clinical Demonstrator, Hetal Patel is urgently looking for volunteers between the ages of 18-40 to sit for a study investigating the rigidity of the sclera (white of the eye).
The purpose of the study is to discover whether there are connections between the rigidity of the sclera and various conditions such as short-sightedness, age related macular degeneration and glaucoma.
The project involves various measurements being taken of the eye, which will give an idea of the scleral thickness and the flexibility of the eye tissues. The study will take approximately an hour of your time (you may need to come back another time to have additional measurements taken). All of the instruments used are commercially available and cause no harm to your eyes.
If you are interested in participating and would like more information please contact Hetal Patel on ext 4091 or Elena Dold.
