Deadline extended for poster abstracts

Due to popular demand we have extended the deadline for poster abstracts for the Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Research Poster Day on Friday 2nd October. The new deadline is Monday 14th September.

We have already attracted a large number of posters from LHS, Birmingham and Warwick University. We are also extending the scope of the poster day to include all postdoctoral researchers and Early Career Academic Research staff from across the University.

To further encourage future collaborative research we are pleased to offer a ‘Seed Corn’ grant of £1000 as a prize for the best collaborative proposal arising from the event. After the event potential collaborators will be invited to submit a short grant proposal (must include at least one Aston LHS researcher) which will be reviewed by an invited panel of academics at the University.

In addition, there will also be prizes of £100 (1st), £50 (2nd) and £25 (3rd) for the best posters displayed on the day as judged by a panel of Academics/Researchers. This competition is open to all researchers from all universities.

Postdoctoral research fellows who would like to display a poster of their research (with an emphasis on the biosciences) should send a short 300 word abstract to Dr Eric Hill (posters from recent conferences are also welcome)*.

Alternatively you are more than welcome to just come along to have a look at some of the research work at Aston and chat with some of our researchers.

The event is being supported by Fisher scientific, Thermo Liquid Handling, Appleton woods, Promega, SFAM, Beckman Coulter, Merck, Elkay, Alta Biosciences, Geneflow, Invitrogen, Sarstedt, LEL waste, New England Biolabs, Sustainable Aston working group, Index project and the Business Partnership Unit, all of whom will be available on the day to discuss all of your research/laboratory needs as well as offering special promotions and competitions.

A fully catered buffet will be provided to both participants and delegates on the day.

Friday 2nd October
11am - 2.30pm MB708

For further information or to confirm your attendance (for catering purposes) please contact Dr Eric Hill.

Many Thanks

Dr Eric Hill

* Researchers you are reminded that external visitors are not subject to the same confidentiality agreements as Aston University staff and posters may need to be changed accordingly.
