A staff competition is being launched to invite colleagues to come up with a name for the University’s new Research Repository that will be launched in June. Name suggestions will need to express its purpose. There’s a prize of a £100 Marks & Spencers voucher up for grabs for the lucky winner too!
Aston Research Repository is an open-access centralised online collection of scholarly publications produced by the University’s researchers. The repository aims to increase the diffusion, visibility and prestige of Aston research publications and individuals in the global community by providing a digital collection that is searchable and browsable on the web. Evidence from other institutions has shown that a repository significantly increases the impact (e.g. measured in citation counts) of the publications in it. The University Research Committee has agreed that all Aston research outputs should be uploaded in the repository, with the exception of commercially confidential and sensitive material, and will be freely available to the global community. Presentations will be made to all staff about the purpose and features of the repository and the benefits that it will bring to individuals and Aston as whole.
Please send your name suggestions to eprints@aston.ac.uk by Friday 15th May.
