Obituary

The University regrets to announce the death of Dr Jon Maxwell, who passed away on Sunday 25th January.

The former psychology lecturer left Aston to move to Hong Kong to be an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Human Performance. Before joining the University, Dr Maxwell had previously worked as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow and Part-time Lecturer in Motor Learning at the University of Portsmouth. His main areas of research interest were in cognition, cross-cultural psychology, personality, and skill acquisition. His cross-cultural and psychosocial research focused on aggression and anger in competitive athletes and led to the development of major projects investigating antisocial behaviour and psychosocial health in delinquent and non-delinquent adolescents. In addition, Jon was interested in how coping styles and physical activity combined to aid with the strains of modern working life, and in particular how work is balanced with family commitments.

He leaves a wife and two young sons.
