To celebrate the official opening of the pitch last week, an opening match was held between a team of University staff versus Sport Aston staff and the Students' Guild.
It was a tense but good spirited game and Luke Taylor (Development & Alumni Relations Office) was the first person to score a goal on the new pitch. The final score was 5-5 but in the end, experience got the better of youth with the staff team winning the penalty shoot out 5-3 after two great saves by super keeper Leo Coelho.
Tom Farrelly, Aston Students' Guild Vice President of Student Involvement, said: “The new pitch is fantastic to play on. The playing surface is the best I have experienced. This will be an asset to Aston students and I know it will be highly valued by the student clubs and individual students alike.”
This fantastic floodlit, 3G pitch is in the heart of campus and the new Student residences making it very accessible to Aston Students and staff. The playing surface offers a very high quality experience and the pitch can be booked for up to three simultaneous 5-a-side games or the full pitch for 8-a-side.
You can book the new pitch up to eight days in advance by calling Gem Sports Hall on ext 4626. Block bookings are available by contacting Beverley Ward at b.s.ward@aston.ac.uk.
