A workshop on the topic, How work-ready are graduates of translation programmes?, was held at the University on 25th February. It was organised by Professor Christina Schäffner from the School of Languages & Social Sciences as one of Aston’s activities within the framework of the National Network for Translation (NNT). The NNT is part of Routes into Languages, a HEFCE-funded programme to increase foreign-language learning and professional careers with languages.
The workshop brought together representatives from translation companies and universities from the West Midlands, postgraduate students and the National Centre for Languages, and focused on exploring possibilities for cooperation and closer links between universities and translation companies. It will be followed up by similar events.
