The Library and Information Services (LIS) is currently reclassifying a portion of our book stock. We are standardising the present shelving system to the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system. This project is scheduled to be completed by the 4th September 2009.
During this time there will inevitably be some inconvenience to our users. In particular, there will be inconsistencies between the book location/class number shown on the catalogue and that of the actual location and class number in the library. We are making every effort to minimise these negative effects.
Spreadsheets displaying the new location of affected books are being placed at the Enquiries Desk on the ground floor, as we progress through the stock. Staff are also available to help users locate books on the shelves. If you have problems locating a book please check with the staff on duty at the Enquiry Desk, or ask any other member of staff for an up-to-date class mark (shelf mark) and floor location for the book you’re looking for.
Information regarding this project will be mounted on the Library’s Web page.
