Empowerment through language(s) and the English paradox
Wednesday 24 November at 6.30pm
Sumpner Lecture Theatre
All staff are invited to an inaugural lecture by Professor Pam Moores, Executive Dean of the School of Languages & Social Sciences.
As citizens of multicultural Britain and multilingual Europe, how well equipped are we with the linguistic competence and knowledge required to prosper in an increasingly global society? Pam will give her reflections on monolingual complacency and the benefits of language study, before asking how should we respond to the UK policy vacuum as regards language learning?
Exploring routes for the future!
A buffet will follow the lecture.
