Women as Agents for Change in Higher Education Institutions seminar

Women in gender

The seminar will give a brief overview of research on gender in the workplace before discussing gender and women’s positions in academic institutions in the UK, where gender imbalance is still a feature.

The presentation and discussion will then move on to present the findings of an ongoing study of women academics who are acting as change agents within their own institutions with the aim of affecting the gender dynamics of their work environment.

The research project (in collaboration with Liz Parsons, Keele University) focuses on collating the auto-ethnographic experiences of women academics doing research with the political objective to change the gender order of their workplace and somehow reduce its gender inequalities.

This seminar will be held on Tuesday 5th May in MB118 between 12.30 and 1.30pm. Lunch will be provided. Booking is essential and should be made through events@aston.ac.uk.
