Thursday 12 November at 1pm
Sir Adrian Cadbury Lecture Theatre

As part of Aston’s Year of Gender, Progress and Power we are delighted to welcome Professor Li Yuee from Shanxi University. Professor Li is also the President of the Women’s Federation of Shanxi and is Head of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shanxi Province.

Professor Li took her Masters Degree in Applied Linguistics at Reading University before studying for her PhD in Discourse Analysis at Aston University. After returning to China in 1993, she was offered a Chair at Shanxi University and became the University’s Vice-President in 1998, having already successfully served as Deputy Dean of Languages. She is now also the Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shanxi Province and President of the Women’s Federation of Shanxi.

Her ties to Aston are still strong. She helped to facilitate the Partnership Agreement that the School of Languages now has with Shanxi University, enabling up to 20 students annually to come to Aston to study in the School.

Professor Li will talk about women’s development in China and give us some reflections on her very successful career.

Book a place.
