Low Carbon Communities Network Conference

The Lifelong Learning Centre was pleased to sponsor the annual conference of the Low carbon Comunities Network held at the Lakeside Conference Centre on Saturday 19 September.

The Director of Lifelong Learning John Blewitt gave the opening address and in the afternoon facilitated a workshop on Knowledge Exchange which explored how HEIs and local communities can productively work together to secure a low carbon future.

Other speakers during the day included Ashok Sinha - the Director of the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition, the prize winning author Mark Lynas, Ed Gillespie of Futerra Communications, the Deputy Leader of Birmingham City Council Cllr Paul Tilsley and the author, environmental activist and broadcaster Penny Poyzer.

The aim of the Low Carbon Communities Network is to share knowledge, develop expertise and generate action to build more sustainable and resilient communities. Find out more about the Network and conference.
