The 2009 ESRC Seminar Series on 'Trends in Modern Operations Management'

The recent seminar into the Roles and Challenges for Operations Management, sponsored by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and Aston Business School, saw delegates from a wide range of industry and academia join together to discuss the advent of technology such as the internet and how this and other emerging technologies have changed the way we conduct business in an e-centric world.

Led by experts from the UK, USA and Australia, the seminar focused upon emerging technologies, their implementation and change management risks for e-operations and, as a result, saw the establishment of an international working party interested in Trends in Modern Operations Management who will produce and pursue an international research agenda taking forward the issues debated during the day and aim to produce top scholarly outputs. Future seminars to be held later this year will cover lean and agile thinking, quality and performance management, knowledge management and business process outsourcing; if you are interested in participating in these please contact Dr. Ben Clegg
