Bereavement workshops for staff

The University Counselling Service is planning to offer a series of workshops for staff who have experienced bereavement.

The sessions will be held on:

Tuesday 17 November (1 - 2pm)
Tuesday 24 November (1 - 2pm)
Tuesday 1 December (1 - 2pm)

The first workshop will address the effects of loss and grief on oneself, family and friends. We will also consider the process of returning to the workplace following bereavement.

The second session will be practically based and will provide group members with an opportunity to explore thoughts and feelings about the individuals who have died.

The final session will draw together the previous week’s topics and provide the participants with an opportunity to share some of one another’s experiences of bereavement. No one will be expected to contribute unless they wish to do so.

Staff will benefit most if they are able to attend all three sessions.

If you are interested in attending, or would like further information, please contact the University Counselling Service for further details. You can e mail Karin Qureshi (University Counsellor) or counselling@aston.ac.uk or call ext 4711.

Please note that the workshop is not designed for those recently bereaved. We recommend that at least 6 months has lapsed since the bereavement.

it would also be very useful to have sessions for those members of staff who are carers or who have yet to experience the bereavement of someone close, in order for them to be better prepared for the event when it occurs.Sharen Lloyd03/11/2009 12:49:37
