The Aston Campus Wildlife Group helped to make the University’s ‘green campus’ greener last week, when a team of staff volunteers from the group met one lunchtime to plant a wildflower area.
Under the guidance of David Bibb from Estates & Facilities (who had already prepared the area), Carolyn Taylor, Denise Jackson, John McBrien, Jane Winder and Victoria Johnsen (who volunteered through the Staff Volunteering Scheme) sowed a variety of wildflower seeds along the area overlooking the volleyball ring, near the Students’ Guild.
If you pop along there in a few weeks’ time you’ll see a beautiful selection of natural flowers and grasses – as these are self seeding plants, it is hoped that the whole of the area will soon be lined with flowers!
Keep an eye on Aspects for further initiatives from the Aston Campus Wildlife Group.
