Are you interested in learning a languages for free?

As an outward-looking institution with a commitment to intercultural and international communication, Aston University is considering a new exciting venture: offering all staff the opportunity to study a language for free!

As the University is increasingly competing in a global market, developing your linguistic skills and intercultural awareness will enhance your ability to fulfil your role, whether you need some basic conversations skills to make international students and guests welcome, or you need more specific linguistic competence to develop international research projects or work with international  collaborators.

Learning a new language or perfecting some previous (rusty!) knowledge is not only a great way to enhance your professional life, it is also a great way to broaden your personal horizons by boosting your confidence and self-awareness.

I think this is a great idea! For this initiative to enjoy full success, I think it would good for there to be some flexibility about learning (e.g. I would like to be able to catch up on the lessons I miss while at a conference).Jane Lê09/03/2010 13:41:37
