Volunteers wanted for West Midlands Fire Service Safeside project

Become a volunteer for the West Midlands Fire Service

Volunteer Visitor Guides are needed for West Midlands Fire Service’s Safeside project.

Situated on Vauxhall Road, just a few minutes away from Aston University, is a state of the art safety awareness centre for children and vulnerable adults. You have the opportunity to become a visitor guide and take groups of children through the life size village including a bus, train carriage, canal and houses providing interactive learning on how to think and act safely in a variety of everyday situations.

I really recommend taking a visit to the centre as it needs to be seen to be believed! There is a presentation and a tour at Safeside for anyone interested in volunteering on Monday 11 January (1:30 - 3pm).

The time commitment is three sessions per month (approximately 12 hours) for a minimum of six months. All training, CRB checks and expenses are provided. Please contact Chantal De-Silva, Staff Volunteering Coordinator to register interest or for further details on ext 4604.

This volunteering opportunity is part of the Staff Volunteering Scheme which entitles staff, with line manager’s approval, to the equivalent of two days paid volunteering leaveand will match your commitment in annual leave for up to two additional days. You may also find it possible to use flexitime to fit volunteer opportunities around work commitments.
