Our 2008 results represent an improvement on Aston’s performance in the previous RAE in 2001. Although the rating methodology has changed considerably, it is possible to correlate the 2008 data with 2001 to show how Aston would have scored under the old 5* rating system.

88% of Aston academic staff were submitted to RAE 2008, a significant increase on the 70% submitted in 2001. Aston is an inclusive community and we believe that it was right to submit as many staff as possible, including many early career researchers who made up 29% of staff submitted.
