Round Up of the 21st of November Matches.
Last week the Men’s Basketball team demolished their opponents scoring 99 points in the process, but this week they not only scored a hundred but went one better, with another comprehensive win two weeks in a row this time beating University of Wolverhampton 57 – 101.
The Aston Volleyball Ladies team won 3-0 to continue their impressive form so far. Table Tennis won a very close match 9 – 8 against University of Birmingham.
The Indoor Cricket team won both their matches this week 71 – 69 against University of Derby and 87 – 86 Oxford Brookes University.
The Women’s Water Polo team beat league rivals Nottingham at home 14-7. This means they have beaten every team in the U-polo league in the first leg and are top of the league. Michelle Byrne moves 2nd and Alisha Braley 4th nationally in the U-polo’s highest goal scorers ranking. The club now has six wins from six games this season!
November has also brought some horrendous weather to say the least, and as a result some our matches were called off as a result.
Never the less as we approach the Christmas break it’s starting to come down to a few select teams who could be in the running for Aston’s Sport Team of the Year. Can the other teams turn it around in Term 2.
On a positive note this week we’ve been interviewing potential Sports Scholarship students who play there sport at a very high level and contribute to sport in some way at Aston University. Next week we will be announcing which students have been awarded the Sports Scholarships.
We are always looking to develop and improve the services we offer to our members at Sport Aston so if there’s anything you’d like us to do just get in touch and let us know.

Round Up of the 14th of November Matches.
There’s only one place to start this week and it’s got to be the Men’s 1st Basketball teams demolition of the Staffordshire Men’s Basketball team winning 99- 22. (But surely I’m not the only one who’s a little bit gutted they didn’t reach the 100).
The Women’s Volleyball team carried on from where they left off last week sweeping aside the University of Bedfordshire to win 3-0. The Men’s Badminton team also put together impressive win beating the University of Worcester 6 – 2.
Last week Aston University men’s tennis got their groove back and this week was no exception with their clean sweep victory of 12–0 against University of Northampton.
Our honourable mentions this week go to:
Men’s Football 3rd team who drew 4–4 against BCU’s 3rd team, and the Men’s Hockey team whose undefeated streak ended this week with a 5–2 loss against Nottingham Trent University.
However, we want everyone to remember sport does not have to be competitive, make sure you keep active and enjoy yourself. Get a mate or a group and take advantage of the high quality affordable facilities available on campus. Choose from 5-aside football pitches, badminton, squash, swimming and basketball.
We hope a lot of people managed to take advantage of our free Wellbeing week sessions last week. We would like to say a big thanks to everyone that took part in some way during Wellbeing Week.

The Men’s 1st Basketball team got back to winning ways this week beating University College Birmingham 56–45. Likewise, the Aston University Men’s Tennis team got back in their grove winning 8–4 against De Montfort University.
Aston Badminton teams were without a doubt the star sports group of this week, with the Women’s 1st Badminton team trouncing University of Lincoln 7-1 and the men’s Badminton team continuing their good season with a unlucky 4-4 draw.
The Women’s Volleyball team seamlessly swept aside the University of Nottingham winning 3–0. Men’s Hockey team must also receive a mention, as they remained undefeated despite being held to a 2-2 draw against Staffordshire.

Round Up of the 31st October 2012 Matches.
Just like in the professional game, this week in BUCS was all about the cup matches.
The Men’s Aston Hockey team continues to be in destructive form sweeping aside their competition, to make it three wins in a row and remain undefeated for the year. They won their match 6-3 against University of East Anglia.
I’m not sure whether the Men’s 4th Football team have been taking notes from the goal fests in the Capital One Cup this week, but they continued the trend dispatching their opponents with a comprehensive 6- 1 win.
Also in Aston University Sports team news, last week the Women’s Water Polo team won 15–7 over Gloucestershire at home in the U-polo league. This puts them 1st in their league with the 1st, 2nd and 4th highest goal-scorers in the league to date. What an incredible start to the season.
