Eating on campus

There are plenty of places to eat on campus. In the Main Building the contemporary food court, CaféTierra, offers hot meals from across the globe, grab and go snacks, sandwiches, salads and pastries, as well as COSTA coffee. CaféLibro within Aston University Library also offers COSTA coffee and a host of grab and go sandwiches, pastries, snacks and paninis. More information.

In the Students' Guild you can get good quality pub grub from B4 Bar, sandwiches and snacks from the Guild Shop and there's also a Subway.

Touch Pay cashless payment scheme

Brand new for the 2011/12 Academic Year, we’re delighted to announce a safe, simple and secure way to pay for your food across campus which is completely cash free AND it’s built into your student ID uniCARD, so there’s no extra card to carry.

The Touch Pay cashless payment scheme gives you the perfect way to ensure you have money set aside exclusively for food. The card can be loaded with funds before you arrive on campus and you can top up throughout the year if you’re running low. You can even ask your parents or guardians to treat you throughout the year, maybe for birthdays or Christmas. As a Touch Pay account holder, you’ll also enjoy some great, exclusive discounts throughout the year. More information.

Eating off campus

Birmingham is full of great value pubs cafes and restaurants, and many offer student discounts, close to campus. Head to Chinatown, the Arcadian Centre, Corporation Street, Broad Street or the Bullring and you're bound to find something you like, or check out one of Birmingham's many curry houses.

Supermarkets & markets

There's a shop on campus for the essentials, and several larger stores within walking distance of campus. If you want to stock up for a few weeks there are also bigger supermarkets close by. The Bullring Market is open Tuesdays - Saturdays and is a great place to buy cheap, fresh fruit and veg.

What to bring

Don't bring too much food with you when you move in - just enough to see you through the first week or so. If your parent's are dropping you off at Aston, make use of their car and get them to take you food shopping!
