All students from the School of Languages and Social Sciences (LSS) can benefit from our excellent year abroad or placement year programme. As an Aston student, the programme will be tailored to your individual requirements - our placement experts will work with you to devise the perfect year overseas or in the workplace.

If you are studying French, German or Spanish, the year abroad is compulsory. However, If you're studying an alternative LSS subject - English Language, European Studies, International Relations, Politics, Sociology or Public Policy - you can choose to benefit from a placement year. This is an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable professional experience and really differentiate yourself from other graduates.
