Welcome to Spanish at Aston University!

Congratulations on having chosen Spanish as your programme - we will do our best to make the next few years an exciting, challenging, invaluable and unforgettable experience.

Spanish Studies at Aston University is the first and only Associated Centre of the Instituto Cervantes in the UK. So what does being an Associated Centre mean? The Instituto Cervantes Associated Centres Network is an international network of public and private schools of Spanish as a foreign language, whose quality is expressly recognized by the Instituto Cervantes and which share, together with the Instituto Cervantes, the commitment to promote and disseminate the teaching of Spanish around the world. In addition, Spanish Studies at Aston organise cultural events every academic year -- concerts, exhibitions, book presentations, etc—sponsored by the Instituto Cervantes.

In Year 1, you will study Spanish Language Skills core module, along with introductory modules to Spain and Latin America.

Transition Resources

These downloadable resources are designed to support you with the transition from Spanish A-level to degree level studies. Topics covered include Dictionary Skills, Developing Reading Skills and Academic Writing.

English language versions of each topic are also available with a voiceover recorded by undergraduates to help guide students through the resources. Students should first access the English language versions which provide an overview before moving to the Spanish versions for specific activities related to the language.
