I was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in French and Spanish from the University of Kent (2001) and subsequently an MA in Translation and Interpreting (2002) and a PhD in Translation Studies (2007) from the University of Bath. My doctoral research investigated the effects of personality on the performance of French to English student translators, and I have mainly published in the area of translation process research. I have professional experience of translating and interpreting and recently organised interpreter training for UK government linguists. I have experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in translation studies, interpreting, French language, and I am happy to supervise PhD students in these areas.

PhD Supervision 

I am currently the first supervisor for two PhD students, one looking at process strategies and norms in the translation of children’s literature with TAPs, and one looking at translator training and certification in Taiwan.

I am available to supervise PhD projects in several areas within translation studies including, but not limited to, the translation process and translator training.
