Spanish research

Research in the Spanish Subject Group covers hispanic literature and art as well as Hispanic linguistics and foreign language teaching. The Group’s research focuses on both Latin America and Spain, and covers the following areas:

Research in the Spanish Section focuses on:

  • Hispanic literature, film and Culture (including literature of the self in Latin America and contemporary Spanish poetry)

  • Gender and Sexuality Studies.

  • Feminist Theory, Feminist Literary Criticism, Feminist Linguistics.

  • Gender and Media Studies

  • Women’s studies and feminism in Hispanic societies

  • Social and cultural issues related to the Spanish-speaking world (including gender, migration, ageing, and the role of historical memory)

  • Critical Theory, Spanish and European Intellectual History

  • Political role of translation in the construction of gender and cultural/national identities in the context of Hispanic Studies

  • Ideological Turn in Translation Studies, Minority LanguagesandTranslation

  • Galician Studies
