Research in the Spanish Subject Group covers hispanic literature and art as well as Hispanic linguistics and foreign language teaching. The Group’s research focuses on both Latin America and Spain, and covers the following areas:
In Hispanic literature and art:
- Modern and contemporary Spanish and Latin American art
- Hispanic literature, film and culture
- Women’s studies and feminism in Hispanic societies
- Social and cultural issues related to the Spanish-speaking world (including migration and the role of memory in Spanish literature)
In Hispanic linguistics and foreign language teaching:
- Political discourse analysis
- Critical metaphors analysis
- Task-based instruction in foreign language teaching
- Drama as a tool to teach foreign languages
