Working for Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Dr Graeme Hayes will be based at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Rennes. He will look at the changing contexts of social movement activism – such as:
- The effects of climate change on the brokering of public consent
- Changing definitions of legality, violence and non-violence in protest strategies
- The importance of the development of EC law and of the EU as a policy actor
- How contemporary activist identities are shaped by social memories of previous actions.
This is an EU funded fellowship with worth €222,000.
The project starts in September 2010 and will run for two years.
