Brief outline of PhD research
My PhD research seeks to promote both adequate communicative competence and critical thinking skills on the part of EFL university students, studying in the United Arab Emirates and specialising in subjects other than English. To achieve the intended aim, the researcher has set and administered a literature course. The study findings are in favour of utilising literary texts (novels and short stories) to enhance both communicative competence and critical thinking.
Why did you choose to study for your PhD in the School of Languages and Social Sciences?
Aston University is a well-reputed academic institution. To be an Aston's graduate is my ultimate honour.
What did you find most useful about the PhD programme?
Promoting my reading and writing skills in English, enhancing my research competencies, as well as improving my pronunciation and spoken fluency in English.
How has your PhD helped you in your current occupation?
I have been promised to be promoted.
