Forensic Linguistics Research Forum

Forensic linguistics

The Forensic Linguistics Research Forum is an informal research group with interest in all areas of language and the law but with particular a particular focus on investigative applications of linguistics.  Our activities include informal research discussions, inviting speakers as part of the ISLS programme and developing research bids in field of forensic linguistics.

With particular regard to the investigative side we have a very applied focus and believe in a strong interaction between on the one hand, substantive linguistic questions such as the existence and nature of idiolect, and on the other hand casework as carried out by members of the group.  Through our discussions we hope to improve the quality of linguistic casework and also develop new techniques to answer forensic questions about written texts.
