Daniel Franklin, who holds a
PhD from Aston University, is the Executive Director of
The Economist. He is also the Editor of
The Economist’s annual publication
The World in... ;
and is The Economist’s Business Affairs Editor responsible for the
coverage of business, finance and science. Joining The Economist in 1983 to
write about Soviet and East European Affairs, Daniel then went on to be the
newspapers’ Europe Editor (1986-1992). In addition, he has also worked for The
Economist as Britain Editor, Washington Bureau Chief and the Editorial Director
of the Economist Intelligence Unit. From 2006 to 2010 he was Editor-in-Chief of The Economist online.
