Research Centres and Institutes

Staff in all areas of the School engage in collaborative research and maintain national and international contacts through LSS' Research Centres and Institutes.

Research in LSS is carried out under the umbrella of two informal Research Institutes which provide a structure within which staff can organise conferences, workshops and talks, and host international scholars: 

• The Centre for Research in Sociology and Policy Studies (CRSPS)

• The Institute for the Study of Language and Society (ISLS)

There are also four interdisciplinary Research Centres in addition to the Institutes which create a productive, creative, inspiring and challenging research structure:

• Aston Centre for Europe (ACE)
  

• The Centre for Forensic Linguistics (CFL)
  

• Centre for Interdisciplinary Research into Language and Diversity (InterLanD)
  

• The Centre for Language Education Research at Aston (CLERA)
  

These centres organise conferences and workshops, host national and international speakers and provide a forum for researchers and research students to conduct and discuss research projects.
