Translation Studies Summer School

Welcome

Dear students from Bari and Lecce,

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to Aston University next week. We hope you will enjoy the translation summer school we have arranged for you here at Aston from 13-17 July 2009. You will have lectures, seminars and hands-on exercises in translation, interpreting, English language and communication. Our School of Languages and Social Sciences has been offering programmes in Translation Studies at undergraduate and postgraduate level since 1997, and we are a member of the National Network for Translation. Our members of staff are research active in the fields of Translation Studies and Applied Linguistics, and you will benefit from their expertise. During your visit, we will also tell you a bit more about Aston University, our School and our programmes. The classes have been scheduled for the morning (see draft programme below) so that you can enjoy the afternoons to explore Birmingham, Britain’s second largest city. Our university campus is right in the city centre and all the attractions are within walking distance.

We wish you a very enjoyable and interesting stay at Aston University.

Professor Christina Schaeffner

Director of Translation Studies
