The University of Birmingham has a number of libraries and resource centres, the largest being the Main Library, located near the centre of the campus in Edgbaston. The other libraries include the Barnes Library, covering medical and life sciences, and the Harding Law Library. You can check the stock using the University's Web catalogue.
Anybody can use the Library for reference only, ask at the Reception and Information Desk for a day pass (you will be asked for identification, eg a driver's licence, a passport or a utility bill). Members of the public can visit up to 10 days per year. You can also join as part of the SCONUL Access Scheme which may also enable you to borrow material.
