Aston University staff and students can borrow laptops for use in the Library. This service is available from 09:00 until 17.00 Monday to Friday.
- Laptops are issued from the Help desk on a “first-come, first served” basis. You will need to pay any outstanding fines on your Library account before you can borrow a laptop.
- You will need to return the laptop an hour before the Help desk closes on the day of issue. If you return a laptop late, you will be charged fines of £2.00 an hour or part of an hour. Laptops cannot be renewed.
- You are responsible for the laptop while it is in your possession. Please do not take the laptop out of the Library except in case of evacuation.
- If you lose or damage a laptop, or if it is stolen, the full replacement cost of £500 will be charged. Do not leave it unattended even for short breaks.
- You will need to use your University username and password to log onto the University network.
- You can access your documents on the '(H)’ drive.
- Laptops are issued without a power cable or mouse - battery life is approximately 3 hours.

Save your work regularly to a memory stick, or your home drive, as the battery life cannot be guaranteed.
