The machines in the Library are dual purpose printer/photocopiers. There is at least one machine located on each floor of the Library. There is a colour printer/photocopier on the ground floor.
If you are unable to come to the Library, or can only visit infrequently, you can ask the Library to make copies on your behalf (see Serviced Photocopying section below).
Self-Service Printing and Photocopying
The Library now uses the FollowMe print system that is also in operation in the Main Building. This system allows you to print to local printers in the same room as you as well as other printers around the University using one printer credit account. Please see the Information Systems Aston student guide for printing for a more detailed explanation and instructions. There is also a video guide to using the Follow Me printing and photocopying system in the Library.
Stapling your work
Please note: staplers are not available in the Library. If you want to staple your work, you will need to do this within the Printer Properties when you send your work to print. (Instructions for stapling are available in the Getting Started section of Library Matters.)

You can ask for photocopies of articles from journals and chapters from books to be made on your behalf. You can collect these in person or they can be posted to you. In order to request a photocopy, fill in the request form and return to us in the Library.
Check first to see if the book or journal is available at Aston using the Library catalogue at http://library.aston.ac.uk. If we do not have what you want you will need to use the Inter Library Loan service.
You may only request ONE article from any ONE issue of a journal, or ONE reasonable length chapter from a book. Requests for multiple articles or chapters from the same issue/book are not permitted due to copyright legislation.

If you are collecting your copies in person you will need to pay by cash or cheque at the Help desk in the Library. If you are on placement, are part-time or are a distance learner, you will be sent an invoice. You can then use the payment form to pay by cheque, or credit card (for payments of more than £1.50) or bank transfer.
Please note that you will have to settle your account before any further copying can be done for you.
If you are resident abroad, you can ask to purchase photocopy card credit in advance. Your copying will then be deducted from the card as you place requests.
You will need to complete a form authorising this form of payment. You can download a copy of the form, or request it by emailing library@aston.ac.uk, by faxing to 0121 204 4530 or by post to:
