Study areas


Group Study

Most of the group study space is situated on the ground floor of the Library.  Using the large tables or the comfortable seating areas, you can work in groups to discuss your assignments, prepare presentations and plan tasks.  Feel free to use the whiteboards provided to make notes of your discussions.  

The 2nd floor of the Library is for group study for most of the year.  It changes to silent study, at the start of the third term.

Silent Study

3rd floor is for single silent study only. If you need to talk to someone, please move to a group study area or to the stairwell.

If you are working in a silent study area and are disturbed by noise from other students, please contact a member of Library staff who will deal with the problem as soon as they can.  You can text an attendant on 0121 204 4489 for assistance.

To avoid disturbing other students, please switch your phones to silent mode as you go upstairs and only use your phones on the ground floor or on the stairwells.

Please remember that smoking is not permitted in the Library. Food and drink can be consumed on the ground floor, but not on the upper floors. Cafe Libro, on the ground floor, sells a range of light snacks and drinks but hot food must not be brought into the Library.
